Yoga has many health benefits and can help relieve physical pain as well as anxiety and depression. It’s all about focus, relaxation, and being in the moment.
It can also be a little intimidating for beginners especially if you’re a little overweight and not confident in your flexibility. Here’s some basic yoga workouts for beginners to help get more comfortable with what you might encounter in a group class at a gym.
Workout 1 – Improving Flexibility
Length: 10 min
The focus is on stretching and flexibility and doesn’t include any of the advanced poses you see in classes at the gym. So if you’ve never tried yoga, or aren’t confident in your flexibility, you should start here.

Workout 2 – Breathing And Relaxation
Length: 20 min
The focus is on breathing and relaxing through the stretch. As with the first, this is intended for yoga beginners and is not intended to challenge your will to continue. Just relax, and have some fun in the privacy of your own home.
Workout 3 – Yoga Basics
Length: 20 min
A more comprehensive list of yoga poses, including the most basic and well known stretches.

Workout 4 – Increasing Endurance
Length: 40 min
This workout is a little more difficult not because of the included poses, but because of the duration. You’ll get a walkthrough of the most common stretches and poses you would expect to encounter in a group class.
