Trying to eat healthier, and avoid junk food, while dieting is pretty challenging. But you also have to adjust to a change in the quantity of food you eat everyday.
If you’re struggling to reduce the volume of food you eat, and it feels like you’re always snacking, you may want to start using a suppressant to make dieting a little easier.
Here’s a quick list of appetite suppressants that work.
Appetite Suppressant Supplements
It’s definitely not recommended to start using all of the listed suppressants at the same time, but everyone will be more sensitive to some suppressants than others. So some trial and error will be needed to see which appetite suppressant works best for you if you decide to use supplements.
Green Tea Extract
Green tea is often used as a coffee substitute for its antioxidants and general health benefits, but it’s also very useful for dieting. The catechins found in green tea influences glucose converting to fat, blood sugar, and insulin levels. The epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) in green tea helps reduce hunger cravings.
Eating whole grapefruit can help you feel full, and boost your metabolism, but if you can’t stand the bitter taste using an extract is the next best thing. Mixing in grapefruit oil with water can help your body break down body fat more efficiently, and suppress your appetite at the same time.
The hydroxycitric acid (HCA) found in garcinia cambogia is the driving force behind the weight loss benefits of this supplement. HCA can help block, or slow the formation of fat cells, and also influences your production of serotonin. The production of serotonin (which makes you feel happy), is believed to reduce your desire for food and reduce cravings.
There really aren’t any large studies supporting hoodia gordonii as an effective appetite suppressant, but there are definite side effects to using it. There are better options with known, and well studied, appetite suppressant properties for you to choose from.
