You don’t need a gym, or any expensive equipment, to get a good leg workout. All you need is a few minutes, a pair of light dumbbells, and some leg room. Here’s a super quick 5 minute leg workout you need to try.
Stick To The Basics
Squats will be in almost every leg workout that only lasts a few minutes. It’s an old school leg exercise that can’t be replaced, and for good reason. It works your entire lower body in one movement. Quads, glutes, hamstrings, and even your calves get some work during a squat.
You don’t need a lot of resistance to get a muscle response from squats, either. Just doing wall squats for a few minutes will do the job.
Unlike squats that work your entire lower body, lunges are more of an isolation movement for each leg. This can help develop balanced lower body strength as each leg is forced to work independently during a lunge.
One of the more neglected muscle groups is also the most visible. Any time you’re in shorts your calves are on display. They pop and flex every time you cross the room. While they don’t need a lot of weight to stimulate growth, it often takes a high number of reps.
You won’t get much progress doing eight reps of calf raises once per week. It often takes 15-20 reps to reach the deep burning sensation in your calves. This level of fatigue lets you know what you’re doing is working, and the results are coming.
